6  General / General Discussion / Your desired motorcycle jacket

Jackets — generally made from leather, ballistic nylon, cordura, Kevlar or other synthetics. Most jackets include special padding on elbows, spine and shoulders. Airbag system technology is now available fitted to jackets and vests for accident protection and impact protection for both riders and pillions. Competition-approved hard armor is superior to soft padding. Competition-approved back and chest protectors can be worn underneath jackets. Inflatable airbag jackets can offer an additional airbag for neck support. If you have not already purchased a motorcycle jacket, you should strongly consider it. You don't need an entire wardrobe of them, but choosing a high quality, durable motorcycle jacket is important for safety when you are riding your motorcycle. Here are the top 5 reasons why you should purchase a motorcycle jacket:

1. Protection: Motorcycle jackets offer the rider protection from both the elements and from injury in the event of a crash. Most come standard with padding in the highest impact areas, such as the shoulder and the elbows. In the event of a potential crash, this padding and protection will help to prevent burns and abrasions that are commonly experienced by riders who are not wearing this protective clothing.More you can review more information at website

Wife will be released from the hospital tomorrow, but she will not be coming home. She will be transfered by ambulance to a rehab facility in Rogers City about a 2 hour drive from here. The doctor said for the rehab that she needs this is the best place for her. There is nothing closer that will give her what she needs to recover. I am assuming this is because of the other disabilities that she has on top of her new injuries. I also recieved a phone call from my insurance company today. Up to this time I was telling everyone I had S**T for insurance but with a little digging and research from a very nice lady with the insurance co. Cherylyn is covered up to $100,000. I on the other hand only qualify for up to $1000 and nothing for the bike. This has to do with when I had a different bike last year they would not issue me full coverage on a $400 bike, but when I got the Harley and changed it over I forgot that I did not have full coverage until it was too late. Oh well those are the breaks, a hard lesson learned. The main thing and only thing I was worried about was for her. When I filed the claim the lady who took the info told me only I was covered and that flipped me off into left field for the last 24 hours. We thank everyone for their support in these hard times. I also belong to 3 other online biker forums and the support they are showing is over whelming. I am saving all my email responses in a special folder so that when she does come home I can set down and read them all to her. Keep those prayers coming, we don't want the other sites to out do each other.

Wizard, I am sorry to hear that man.
I wish you and your wife a fast and full recovery, I'm sure that near future you and your wife will look at this accident as a great motorcycle "war story" with a few cool battle scares.

In any case, don't feel too bad, we all been there, I have more broken bones in my body than I care to remember...she'll be fine, I'm sure of it.

I would like to inform you that yesterday That my wife[Cherylyn] and I were in a motorcycle accident. I am banged up and bruised pretty good but Cherylyn wasn't so lucky. She is in the hospital with Multiple fractures to both legs. They operated this morning on her right ankle and the doctor said it came out very well. Both ankle bones that stick out the side of the ankle broke off and had to be screwed back in place. Her left kneecap broke across from side to side and the lower 3rd of it was pushed down into the upper part of her lower leg along with the smaller bone in the lower part of the leg being fractured as well. Surgery for her knee is scheduled for tomorrow some time. They expect her to come home maybe tuesday or wednesday. They say she will be in a wheel chair for about 6 months.
All prayers for a speedy recovery for her are welcome.
Thank You all.
