Canine For Combat Veterans Run (# 10795)

02-Aug-2009 (Sunday)

The Haymond Law Firm, and the Easthampton American Legion Riders, Springfield HOG chapter proudly present the First Annual Canines for Combat Veterans Poker Run on August 2, 2009. All of the proceeds from this event will allow NEADS/Dogs for Deaf and Disabled Americans through their Canines for Combat Veterans program. In 2006, Walter Reed Medical Hospital invited NEADS to specially train assistance dogs for injured service mean and women. This began a demand, ever increasing, for these dogs due to the growing population of wounded veterans returning from operations in Iraq and Afghanistan."These men and women have given up so much for our country. This is a great way for the biker community to combine their love of motorcycles with support for America's service men and women. It will be a exciting event," says ride organizer, Bethany Costigan. The ride begins at the Yankee Candle Flagship Store, 25 Greenfield Rd, S.Deerfield, MA. Registration is between 9-10:30 with the last bike out at 10:30. The route goes through the beautiful hills of Western Massachusetts. Its end at American Legion Dalton Lavallee Post 224,190 Pleasant St, Easthampton, MA for food, music and plenty of raffles. Raffles from Joe Deans All Custom, Mustang Motorcycle Seats, "American Thunder's," Michele Smith, Sgt. Grit- Marine Specialties, and many more. The cost is $20 a bike and $10 a passenger.
